Superstar Mahesh Babu is officially gearing up for the release of Varanasi in 2027. Recent updates confirm that the Guntur Kaaram actor has begun intensive training in Kalaripayattu, one of the oldest martial arts in the world.
The news broke after noted martial arts expert Hari Krish Kakani shared glimpses of their training sessions on social media. Kakani expressed his admiration for the actor’s dedication and the director’s vision. “Feeling proud and truly blessed to have trained Mahesh sir in the ancient martial art of Kalaripayattu," Kakani wrote. "His lifestyle, aura, and hospitality are deeply inspiring. Immense gratitude to Rajamouli sir for his acceptance.”
Rishab Shetty is among recent actors who underwent a similar training. He learned Kalari and sword fighting for Kantara: Chapter 1. Ranbir Kapoor did so for Shamshera. Other Bollywood actors who did so include Vidyut Jammwal, Tiger Shroff, Akshay Kumar, and Parineeti Chopra.
