Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today called upon elders to teach children that Hindu Gods and epics are greater than whatever Hollywood and the comic book culture in the West has produced. "Tell you kids that Lord Hanuman is more powerful than Superman and Spider-Man, Arjuna is a better warrior than Batman and Iron Man, and the stories of the Mahabharata and the Ramayana are considered better than the Avatar series," Chandrababu Naidu said.
The address comes in the wake of growing relevance of divinity-themed elements in Indian movies. Movies like Akhanda, Kantara, HanuMan, Akhanda 2, and the upcoming Varanasi, directed by SS Rajamouli, are several examples. The Ramayana duology, starring the Ranbir Kapoor-Sai Pallavi duo and directed by Nitish Tiwari, are the other prominent examples.
