Superman, the American superhero film based on the eponymous character from DC Comics, is all set to be released in India on July 11th. In some crucial Western markets, it will be released in theatres two days earlier.
Its rumoured production budget is $225 million. As much as $400 million has gone into production and marketing.
The Hollywood Reporter projected a domestic opening weekend of $175 million and a global total possibly exceeding $1 billion, driven by strong trailer engagement.
Box Office Theory and other sources are conservative, though. They suggest a domestic opening between $90–145 million, with global totals needing to surpass $500 million to break even and $700 million to be deemed a success.
The film's premise in brief: "The film follows Clark Kent / Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his adoptive human family in Smallville, Kansas," says its Wikipedia page. Superman is directed by James Gunn.
