In the latest chit-chat video released to promote Baahubali: The Epic, Prabhas has revealed that Rajamouli had debts till recently. The passing comment was made in the context of the huge stakes that Baahubali: The Beginning, released in 2015, rode on.
When Rajamouli said during the chit-chat that he was worried for producer Shobu Yarlagadda when the first part opened to negative feedback in Telugu, the discussion veered towards an interesting point. "I am just a director who didn't carry any financial risk. I did my job and got my remuneration. But I was so worried for Shobu garu, who had made the film on a massive budget and released it with a Rs 40 Cr deficit. I couldn't have helped him out because I didn't have any assets," Rajamouli said.
At this, Prabhas said, "Sir was repaying his loans till recently. I know his story." Rajamouli didn't give a pause and carried on with the conversation, pretending not to be attentive to his words.
