He has acted in just three movies - Chitram, Nuvvu - Nenu & Manasantha Nuvve. All three have turned out to be super hits. Today youth is crazy about Uday Kiran. Iam sure all of you would like to know more about the confrontations he had to face and the efforts he had to pour in to become a successful actor. He told us more about his experiences...
Ever since I was kid, I watched Chiranjeevi's movie. I would be so engrossed in the movies that I would forget the world around me. I would imitate Chiranjeevi's dance and dialogues. My father, V.V.K.Murthy is an employee in the airport. My mother Nirmala Murthy is a housewife. My schooling was in K.V.Picket. Everyone enjoys movies with friends, but I enjoy movies with my family. Though I expressed the fact that I want to become an engineer, but in the heart my ambition was to become an actor. I would never discuss this for the fear of being scolded. I have one sister named Sridevi. She got married when I was 14 years old. I was an average student, but I never failed a subject. Even at that tender age, I used to think of fighting and dance duets in the movies. I suppose, it is bad for natural at that age. People mature at the age of 14,15 years. I used to participate in cultural activities and I never had stage fear.
That is when my future was being discussed in my family. I am from a middle class family. Life is not just as easy as it seems. I guess everybody faces this situation. My father cautioned me to concentrate more on my education and my future, as we were not rich enough to support our future. I was deeply moved by this. Yet, I told him that I would become an actor at one point in time. I told him that I couldn't become anything other than an actor.
I joined a computer course while I was studying my intermediate. All the women there were elder to me. At that point in time, the movie Aaaropranam was released. I was 1years old. I imagined myself to be Vineeth and drew satisfaction. In that movie the hero was younger than the heroine. Even Sachin Tendulkar, Saif Alikhan are younger than their wives. Of course, in those days, that was a craze. When studying in Wesley College, I never got touch with the girls. I was laughed at by many girls on listening to my ambition of becoming a movie hero. Some of them preferred me being a model to become an actor. I gave up this idea, because that requires a better personality. In those days I had no vehicle for my self. I used to about in public transport.
It is only when I was studying degree that there was a notice from Usha Kiran Movies calling for new actors. Though I was 19 years old, I had hope of becoming an actor. I convinced my mother and with a hope of finding at least a small role, I headed to the address mentioned by Usha Kiran Movies. There were more than 400 people at the audition.
Mr.Ramanand was the interviewer. It took a few days to do the screen test. I was asked to come again to the same place. Ever since I did that, acting obsessed me. I completely forgot about my studies. I had to sit in a room from 10.00 Am in the morning till down. I had nothing to do in that room, not even a newspaper to read. I did this for two months. As days went by, the number of people who came to the room slimmed. A few days later, I was the only one left. At that point of time, I thought that I neither had the face nor the body to become an actor. Yet, there was a confidence with in. Even on Dec 31st, I was waiting there until 11 in the night. Even though I was hurt a little by friend's comments, I did not care much. I was told that I was given a role in the movie. But the character of that role was not specified. The torture I experienced during those two months vanished in a second. I told this to my mom and friends. I am a devotee of Saibaba, I wanted to wait until the role was specified. But, I was asked by mother to leave immediately to Shirdi. When I came back from Shirdi, I was told that I did not have any role to play in the movie. I went to the office frantically and enquired about it. I was told the same thing again. I could not hold the disappointment and went to Mr.Ramanand and poured my heart out. I came back home and my family and my good friend, Hitesh, consoled me. A few days later I was called to tell that I was given a hero role. I reacted quiet normally to the news. I was back home and told this to my mom. My mother reaction was much more when she heard the news the very first time. I am a huge fan of Chiranjeevi and I hope to meet him and speak with him. I have seen him twice, but I never really got in touch with him, says hero Uday Kiran.
