In a recent interview, producer Raam Achanta opined that Aagadu would have been a hit had it been made and released before Dookudu. The producer is content with Aagadu's content more than ten years after it was made.

Aagadu and Dookudu had many common story beats. Usually, writers/directors conceive the superior of two 'same territory' films first. At least, this has been the case since the early 2000s. You could take any example and see it for yourself. Both films had their story written by Srinu Vaitla himself. The director must have had the conviction to write Aagadu precisely because Dookudu was accepted by the audience. So, the hypothesis doesn't hold, unless you believe that RGV would have made Company before Satya and VV Vinayak would have made Chennakesava Reddy before Aadi.
