The Girlfriend: Dramatic trailer laden with tension and drama

"Not all love stories are fairy tales. Some are a reality check that leave you thinking," director Rahul Ravindran wrote, sharing the trailer for his upcoming romantic drama film, The Girlfriend. The touted "reality check", one gathers from the trailer, is delivered through a set of relatable, volatile, humanized characters, primarily that of the female protagonist. Rashmika Mandanna plays Bhoomi, who is apparently overwhelmed in a tumultuous relationship with Vikram (Dheekshith Shetty), an Alpha male in all likelihood. She seeks a short break from her relationship so she can reflect upon her choices.

The trailer gets progressively more and more intensely emotional, with the tension and drama enhanced by the presence of Rao Ramesh (as Bhoomi's overly anxious dad). Anu Emmanuel plays a manipulative woman who is cut from a different cloth.

The songs are composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab, while the background score is by Prashanth R Vihari. Also starring Rohini, the film is produced by Vidya Koppineedi and Dheeraj Mogilineni and will grace the big screens on November 7th.
