Okkadu, released in 2001, was a blockbuster. It also came to be seen as a classic eventually. Before this one, director Gunasekhar delivered two back-to-back flops: Manoharam and Mrugaraju.
In his latest interview, Gunasekhar recalled how Mahesh Babu's faith in the story was everything. "He didn't want unreal action sequences. Those days, if a film had a fight scene involving 10 sumos, heroes would want a fight scene involving 20 sumos in their next film to outscale the previous one. But Mahesh believed that Okkadu didn't need that kind of approach," Gunasekhar said.
Okkadu had music by Mani Sharma. Bhumika Chawla played Mahesh Babu's heroine, while Prakash Raj played the antagonist.
Gunasekhar awaits the release of Euphoria on February 6. Focusing on contemporary issues like drug abuse and juvenile crime, it stars Bhumika Chawla, Sara Arjun, and Gautham Vasudev Menon, and others.
