'Baahubali: Before The Beginning' (prequel to 'Baahubali: The Beginning) was first directed by Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru. Netflix had commissioned the project in 2017. The project was shelved in 2019 or so.
The project was revived last year in July after much deliberation. Bollywood's Kunal Deshmukh and Ribhu Dasgupta were roped in to wield the megaphone. As per the latest reports by a section of the national media, the web series has been called off once again. This is the second time that the project has been shelved.
Netflix is believed to have spent Rs 150 Cr in total. Last time, the number that peddled was Rs 100 Cr. Whether these numbers are believable or not depends on the information one has.
SS Rajamouli was involved at the pre-production level the first time. Netflix wanted things to be done at a certain pace. They were not satisfied with the quality of visuals, reports say.
