When Kiara Advani was roped in for 'Bharat Ane Nenu' as Mahesh Babu's heroine, she was no big name in Hindi. 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' was a major Bollywood hit but it didn't feature a superstar, nor did it have Kiara in too many scenes. Mahesh, on the other hand, was a superstar. 'BAN' became an expected box office hit. But an unanticipated disaster was waiting to happen. Ram Charan's 'Vinaya Vidheya Rama' was released in January of 2019. It became a massive flop.
Probably, the flop made Kiara Advani think twice before accepting Telugu (or South Indian movies, for that matter) merely on the grounds of a fat paycheck or the hero's name. This decision proved to be a blessing.
She focused on Bollywood. 'Kabir Singh' became a blockbuster in 2019 and Kiara knew that she can ignore Southern films for a while. 'Shershaah' in 2021 is another Bollywood hit, although it was released on OTT directly. "On 31 August 2021, Amazon claimed that Shershaah had become the most watched Indian film on the platform in India," a report says.
And now, Kiara is laughing her way to the bank with 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' becoming a super-hit. The film collected more than Rs 54 Cr (Nett.) in India in the first weekend. Today, which is the film's first Monday, the horror-comedy is expected to amass a double-digit figure at the Indian box office.
Clearly, Kiara has done the right thing by not accepting Telugu films after 'VVR' became a flop. Boyapati Srinu has really uplifted her Bollywood career!
She is doing Ram Charan's 15th movie but it is a pan-Indian film.
