'Sharapanjaram' is the title of an upcoming village-based romantic action drama directed and headlined by Naveen Kumar Gattu. Starring Laya as the heroine, the film is produced by T Ganapathi Reddy and Mallik MVK. On Monday, its first song was released at the hands of 'RRR' and 'Baahubali' writer Vijayendra Prasad. The song has lyrics by Kasarla Shyam.
Music director RP Patnaik unveiled the first glimpse, while Mamidala Harikrishna and Venu Udugula released a 4-minute Digital Cinema Package.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijayendra Prasad said, "Even in modern times, regressive practices such as Jogini rituals are still in force. It is commendable that 'Sharapanjaram' raises the issue and takes a progressive stance. The film tells a love story between a Jogini and a man in a village. The songs are really impressive."
Venu Udugula of 'Virata Parvam' said, "This zero-budget movie has been made with utmost honesty, I believe. I appreciate Naveen, who hails from a small village, for making it to this position."
Scripted and directed by Naveen Kumar, the film has cinematography by Masthan Siripati. Editing is by Yadagiri Kanjarla. 'Warangal' Bashanna, Anand Bharathi, 'Jabardasth' Venky, 'Jabardasth' Jeevan, 'Jabardasth' Rajamouli, 'Jabardasth' Milky, Aluvala Somayya, and others have different roles.
