A few weeks ago, the buzz was that Suriya and director Shankar will be teaming up for an epic movie based on a Tamil novel titled Velpari. But now, fresh reports indicate that Suriya is out of the project.
It's said that the '2.0' director wants to make the film with Bollywood hero Ranveer Singh. And it is likely going to be a three-part venture.
If true, Shankar's plan to remake 'Aparichitudu' with Ranveer in Hindi will be put on the back burner.
What is Velpari, the novel? The Sahitya Akademi Award-winning novel is written by Su Venkatesan, who did profound research by studying the Sangam-era poetry and travelling extensively to write the book.
Shankar has to first complete Ram Charan's 15th movie and Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2' before he can take up the Ranveer project.
