On December 15, Chandu Sai of 'Pakkinti Kurradu' fame was arrested by the Narsingi Police under some sections of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Indian Penal Code. The arrest came after a woman complained that he had deceived her in the name of marriage.
Here is what happened so far in the case:
With immediate effect, Chandu Sai was lodged in the Chanchalguda prison last week. Yesterday, he was produced before the Ranga Reddy District court. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody as per the court's order.
His mother, father, sister and brother-in-law have been absconding. They have been accused by the woman of harassing her in the name of dowry.
Sai has been accused by the woman of indulging in non-consensual sex with her. In other words, he is facing rape charges.
It will be a tough ask for Chandu Sai and his family members to extricate themselves out of the mess.
