Akshay Kumar has been slammed by Netizens over appearing in a Vimal Pan Masala Ad. In 2022, the versatile actor said that he would never do a pan masala/tobacco Ad, as he feels it is ethically wrong to glorify their consumption. In the latest Ad, he is seen sharing screen space with his fellow Bollywood colleagues - SRK and Ajay Devgn.
Taking to social media, Akshay clarified that he hasn't made any return. The controversial Ad was shot two years ago, much before the 'OMG 2' actor resolved to never promote or glamourize tobacco consumption. "I have not had anything to do with the brand ever since I publicly announced the discontinuation of the endorsement. They can legally run the already shot ads till the end of next month," he wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, 'Mission Raniganj' has failed to make even modest numbers at the box-office. Reacting to its disastrous spell, Akshay said that he does some films not with commercial considerations in mind but their content. 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' and 'Pad Man' are two of the examples, he said.
