SonyLIV is coming up with an Original titled 'Freedom at Midnight', a show based on a 1975 book about the events around the Indian independence movement and partition in 1947.
In the Original's Trailer released today, we see Mahatma Gandhi crashing into a Congress party meeting where it is revealed that Sardar Vallabhai Patel is the preferred leader of most of the Congress party cadre/local leaders. Gandhi, who prefers Nehru to lead the country as Prime Minister due to his personal bias, asks Patel to withdraw his nomination papers. A shocked and dejected Patel obliges out of respect for Gandhi.
"The history you may not know. The history you should know. Presenting the first drop of the electrifying story of India's independence, based on the award-winning book by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins," wrote SonyLIV, dropping the provocative Trailer.
The show seems to be against Nehru. "If the entire series is as gripping as the trailer, expect Congress to file a case against Sony LIV, soon," wrote Amit Malviya, the National Spokesperson of the BJP.
