'Samarasimha Reddy' is going to be re-released in theatres on March 2. As per Nandamuri Chaitanya Krishna, the Balakrishna-starrer is the biggest re-release in the history of Indian cinema.
The action drama, originally released in 1999, will hit the theatres on 350 screens, 250 of which belong to Andhra Pradesh. In Nizam, it will be released on 100 screens, while there are plans to release the B Gopal directorial in a notable way in Karnataka and Solapur as well.
The re-release is an attempt at galvanizing the support base of Balakrishna and TDP ahead of the election season. At least, that's what the huge Andhra and Ceeded release scale makes one believe.
If a film spreads itself too thin, a disaster is more assured. Films like 'Pokiri', 'Kushi' and others didn't spread themselves too thin. Re-releases have to be compact.
