Karan Johar, one of the most popular Bollywood producers, on Sunday, said that one of his next films under Dharma Productions features a "superstar from the south who has just delivered a pan-India juggernaut". He didn't name the actor. He didn't name the film either. He was indirectly referring to Prithviraj Sukumaran, who played Prabhas' friend-turned-foe in 'Salaar'.
The film, titled 'Sarzameen', also features Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan. "A massively loved actress who continues to awe us with her emotional energy on celluloid," Karan Johar wrote, teasing the audience to guess the name of the actress. It was an oblique refernece to Kajol. The release date of the drama is yet to be made official.
The inside talk is that the film is content-driven like last year's sleeper hit '12th Fail' from Bollywood. If 'Sarzameen' indeed becomes a box-office hit or at least an OTT rage, Prithviraj Sukumaran can hope to become another Dulquer Salmaan from the Malayalam film industry in doing films in other languages.
