Pawan Kalyan’s 'Vakeel Saab' up for re-release ahead of elections

'Vakeel Saab' was originally released in theatres in April 2021, just days before the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic took wings in India. The film is now up for a theatrical re-release ahead of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.

The Dil Raju-produced remake will hit the cinemas on May 1. Advance bookings are open in select theatres. As the release date inches closer, the bookings are expected to see a surge in those Assembly constituencies where the Jana Sena Party is strong in AP. There are a few meta lines in the film that are purely meant to serve PK's political support base.

Directed by Venu Sriram, 'VS' was a remake of the Hindi hit 'Pink'. Thaman's background music for the film is considered one of his best works.

The decision to release the film just before the election suggests that it may generate some buzz in specific areas of Andhra Pradesh. Otherwise, it doesn't fit the mold of your typical commercial entertainer that would typically warrant a re-release.
