Dhandoraa: Title track is a 'forceful ideological opening'

Dhandoraa is going to hit the cinemas on December 25. Mythri Movie Distributors is backing its Nizam release, while Prime Show is backing its release in Andhra, Ceded and Karnataka. Set for an overseas debut with premieres on the 23rd in about 200 locations, Dhandoraa is among the biggest releases of the month.

Its title track, set to tune by Mark K Robin, was released today. While the previously-released song, Pilla, was soft, the title song is a far cry. The idea is to carry the rage and grief inherent to those at the receiving end of oppressive social hierarchies. "The soundscape feels restless and urgent, amplifying the lyrical revolt rather than tempering it," the makers said. Kasarla Shyam's lyrics are poignant.

Speaking at the song launch event, Mythri's Sashidhar Reddy thanked producer Ravindra Banerjee for giving him the opportunity to release it in Nizam. "This hard-hitting movie will connect with audiences across territories and markets," he said, adding that actor Sivaji's performance will be special. "Every artist, for that matter, has done a very good job. The love story will haunt the audience," he said.

Producer Ravindra Banerjee said that the movie's intent will be similar to that of the title song. "Given the genre and the nature of the story, I had multiple questions in mind before embarking on the project. But we have received immense support from distributors, including Mytir and Bhadrakali Pictures (overseas distribution). We are very satisfied," the producer added. Not just overseas, the domestic market, too, will see early paid premieres.

Also featuring Ravi Krishna, Manika Chikkala, Mounica Reddy, Bindu Madhavi and Raadhya, the Muralikanth directorial has Navdeep in a prominent role. The cinematography is by Venkat R Sakhamuri.
