Popular lyricist Jaladi Raja Rao died today, 14th October, 2011, at his residence in Vizag. He was 79. Born on August 9th, 1932, Jaladi Raja Rao stepped into film industry as a lyricist through 1977 ‘Palle Seema’ but got his 1st break with the song ‘Yathamesi Thodina Yeru Yendadu, Pogili Pogili Yeddchina’ in ‘Pranam Khareedu’. Jaladi Raja Rao wrote many hit songs in 70s and 80s. Although he wrote hundreds of songs in more than 250 films, he is well known for folk songs and patriotic songs, the most popular number being ‘Punyabhoomi Naa Desam Namo Namami’ from ‘Major Chandrakanth’.
