Director K Ajay Kumar’s ‘Matru Devo Bhava’ (1993) produced by K S Rama Rao is a landmark film in Telugu cinema. It’s filled with heart-wrenching performances by an impressive cast, including Madhavi and Nassar, who reach deep within their souls to play the key roles. The film is a remake of Sibi Malayil’s Malayalam hit film ‘Aakashadhootu’ (1993) and was again remade in Hindi in 2008 as ‘Tulsi’ by the same director Ajay Kumar with Manisha Koirala and Nana Patekar.
Now once again the news of its remake is doing rounds these days. Yester year diva Jayapradha intends to take this masterpiece to Bhojpuri. The interesting part is she will produce the film as well as play the lead role in it. Director Dinkar Kapoor is working towards creating the same level of emotions. A leading Bhopuri actor Manoj Tiwari will play the male lead role opposite Jaya Pradha. The actress cum politician, who was successful in films as well as politics, is planning to turn producer and produce more films in the near future.
