Tollywood bigwigs wished veteran actor Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao on his birthday, who turned 88 on September 20th. D Ramanaidu, Murali Mohan, Krishnam Raju, Ahuti Prasad and many more visited the actor’s residence and wished him with flower bouquets. Later ANR cut the cake and celebrated his birthday amidst his fans.
Born on September 20, 1924 at Venkata Raghavapuram in Kirshna District, Akkineni Nageswara Rao started his film career in 1941 with his first film ‘Dharmapatni’ in which he played the role of one of the main lead’s childhood friends. There are several landmark films in ANR’s acting career and to name a few – Devadasu, Missamma, Mayabazar, Gundamma Katha, Tenali Rama Krishna, Dr Chakravarthi, Prem Nagar, Premabhisshekam, Dasara Bullodu, Mooga Manasulu, Seeta Ramayyagari Manavaralu, Sutradharulu, etc. ANR also established Annapurna Studios in 1975, a leading film studio in Hyderabad. In his 70 years of his film career, he was the recipient of several prestigious awards like Padma Vinhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padmasri, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, NTR National Award, 2 Filmfare Awards and Raghupathi Venkaiah Award besides 5 Nandi awards.
