"I used to excel with smaller films, but I have lost my touch," Dil Raju admitted at an event on Sunday. "S Naga Vamsi (of Sithara Entertainments), on the other hand, continues to deliver hits, and I see a bit of myself in his work," Raju added.
The admission is interesting. There was a time when Sri Venkateswara Creations used to strike gold with small films. Some of its early movies included a classic like 'Bommarillu', a commercial entertainer like 'Dil', and a soothing teen love story like 'Kotha Bangaru Lokam'. Ravi Teja-starrer 'Bhadra' and Jr NTR's 'Brindavanam' were memorable.
With time, though, Dil Raju has slowly lost his grip. Naga Chaitanya's 'Thank You' and Vijay Deverakonda's 'Family Star' proved to be duds. Dil Raju Productions has made two bad movies, back to back, 'Love Me: If You Dare' and 'Janaka Aithe Ganaka'.
One hopes Dil Raju is going to make a strong comeback with Nithiin's 'Thammudu'. He and his production house's sister concern must have lined up a few more interesting small-range and medium-range movies. Among biggies, he is producing Ram Charan's 'Game Changer' and Venkatesh's 'Sankranthiki Vasthunnam'.
