Demanding the justice, the makers of ‘Friend Request’ have sat down for a continuous hunger strike in front of the Film Chamber in Hyderabad. Youthful horror entertainer ‘Friend Request’, which is set in the backdrop of social media, is all set for release in a grand level on July 8 in over 150 theaters. Bindu Pictures Srinivas has released the film in Nizam area. But the distributor, who had promised to release the film in 30 theaters, finally released the film in only one theater and that too only two shows. Demanding the justice, director and producer of the film Aditya Om and the team sat down on a hunger strike in front of the film Chamber in Hyderabad. Few other small producers too supported him. Bharat Ektha Andolan National convener Shri Mallu Ramesh has given his support to the ‘Friend Request’ team. Film Chamber EC Member Ashok Kumar and General Secretary Damodar Prasad have assured the team all possible help from them. Aditya Om and Vijay Varma and the team have stated that they will continue the strike until they get permanent solution for this problem. Tummalapalli Rama Satyanarayana, K Suresh Babu and Mohan Goud and some others have visited the hunger strike camp.
On this occasion, Aditya Om stated, “We worked very hard for nearly two and half years and made this youthful entertainer with the budget of Rs 4 crores. We have kept our heart and soul for the good outcome of the film and crossed many obstacles and finally we released the film. We did huge promotions in social media before the release of the film. Social media friend are eagerly waiting to watch the film. But, they didn’t get the chance to watch the film. The film which was supposed to be released in 150 theaters in both Telugu states, has released just in 30 theaters. The film is running successfully in those theaters with super hit talk. In city, the film was released in just one theater and with this how can we reach breakeven point. So, we sat here for a continuous hunger strike for theaters. We want minimum theaters and minimum shows.”
Co-producer Vijay Varma said, “Distributors' behavior is changing from first day to the next day. It became curse to small budget films. Film Chamber and State government should take suitable decision regarding regional films. Government should pass the rule to allot theaters to regional films like in Maharastra and so that it will be helpful to Telugu films. Our strike continues till we get justice. Small producers are giving their support to us.”
