The trailer of the Ram Gopal Varma-conceived 'Disha Encounter' is out. Helmed by Anand Chandra, the film tells the story of the mind-numbing rape and murder of Priyanka Reddy, a 26-year-old woman from Shamshabad, in November last year.
RGV has appreciated Sonia Akula, the debutante, for coming on board to play the role of Disha. "I am fortunate that you chose to do such a complex role like in DISHA ENCOUNTER as your debut film ..it just proves that you have beauty, brains and a very kind heart too (Going by ur humanitarian efforts through AASA)," RGV said. AASA is the name of the NGO that Sonia runs.
"I am fortunate to have worked with a legendary director like RGV sir. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to play the role of DISHA. It is such a tragic and moving story and I feel it will be an eye-opener to many," she said on Twitter.
The web film has music by DSR.
