Producer NV Prasad, who has been associated with the film industry for decades as a financier and producer, has said that the theatres in Andhra Pradesh will find it impossible to survive if the ticket price is not raised to Rs 100 in Panchayat areas. In Corporation areas, Rs 150 is the ideal price.
Speaking to a YouTube channel, Prasad said that a handful of industry people are seeking YS Jaganmohan Reddy's appointment. "I don't know whether Chiranjeevi garu has sought an appointment. I am close to him but we don't discuss such things," Prasad said.
Prasad added that a lot of theatres in AP are actually owned by YCP MLAs. "We have made a list of theatres owned by the ruling party MLAs. It's even their wish that the government raises the ticket prices. More than TDP leaders, YCP MLAs have greater stakes in the exhibition sector. Even if Chandrababu Naidu garu raises the issue, the government is going to listen to him," Prasad said.
He added that D-Mart, Reliance and such giants are looking to buy out theatres and turn them into godowns. "If the profit margins decrease, the theatre sector will suffer hugely in 2-3 years," Prasad added.
