The Hindi dubbed version of 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' was supposed to be released in theatres on January 26. Its theatrical release was cancelled, though. The producer of the dubbed version, Manish Shah, said that he was requested by the producers of 'Shehzada' (the remake of 'AVPL') to cancel the release.
Reportedly, it was Allu Arjun's father Allu Aravind himself who was at the forefront of the efforts to stall the release of the dubbed version. It's because Aravind is one of the producers of 'Shehzada'. Therefore, he didn't want the Hindi-dubbed version to come out in theatres.
So, the Geetha Arts supremo and the other producers of 'Shehzada' paid Rs 9 Cr to Manish Shah to make sure that the dubbed version doesn't release in theatres. It was like compensation that they gave.
Shah accepted the proposal because his long-time friends Sajid Nadiadwala and Anil Thadani, the prominent Bollywood distributor, acted as mediators. Frankly, Shah believes that the dubbed version of 'AVPL' would have made many times the figure (Rs 9 Cr) had it been released in theatres.
