Usually, mythological films don't have any inspiration other than the greatness of the epic on which the film is based. There are instances where the director is inspired to tell a particular aspect of the epic or a character. But the inspiration is rooted in the source material.
For a change, Prabhas' much-awaited 'Adipurush' has been inspired by an animation film based on the Ramayana. It is the 1992 Indo-Japanese anime film 'Ramayana: The Prince Of Light', which was directed and produced by Yugo Sako. Speaking to Variety, director Om Raut today said that he had watched the movie back in the 2000s and was bowled over by the presentation that was so modern and so fresh and very children friendly.
The film, starring Kriti Sanon as Janaki and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, will not be heading to theatres on August 11. It has been postponed indefinitely. Its shoot was completed last year.
