'Soorarai Pottru' (dubbed and released as 'Aakasam Nee Haddu Raa' in Telugu), harvested multiple National Awards today. The two most prominent categories are these: Best Feature Film and Best Actor. (The other three are these: Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Music Director - Background Score awards)
Suriya, the jury said, shares the Best Actor award with Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, who won the award for his performance in 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior'.
It seems the jury couldn't make out who should be given the award and they gave both. Suriya's studied portrayal of an underdog-turned-entrepreneur in 'Soorarai Pottru' was loved by the audience when the movie was released on OTT in 2020.
As for Ajay Devgn, his winning the award brings glory to Bollywood, which has been facing a popular backlash for allegedly making films that are "out of touch with reality". Ajay Devgn was seen as Subedar Tanaji Malusare, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's military leader and friend, in the Bollywood blockbuster. It was directed by Om Raut, who is currently doing Prabhas' 'Adipurush'.
