'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram' is hitting the cinemas on Friday. Meanwhile, language-based social media wars are on.
Today, in a strange turn of events, Kannadiga social media users trended a hashtag calling upon fellow Kannadigas to boycott 'RRR' because the Kannada version of the Rajamouli directorial has allegedly received a raw deal. Despite Kannada being the dominant language in Karnataka, the Kannada version of 'RRR' is not going to release on a wide scale.
The boycott call has become a piece of national news since a linguistic sentiment has been invoked.
The ball is now in the court of distributors.
On a side note, Rajamouli knows Kannada by the virtue of the fact that he was born in Raichur. In fact, he received Padma Shri because of a recommendation made by the Karnataka government after 'Baahubali 2'.
