BA Raju, the multi-faceted media personality and iconic Telugu film industry's PRO, passed away in May last year. Marking his first death anniversary, his Godfather and favourite matinee idol Superstar Krishna has been interviewed.
In the interview, Krishna talked about the days when BA Raju started out his career under him. "Raju used to be a big fan of mine. He volunteered to give replies to fan mails that were posted to me by fans from various parts of Andhra Pradesh. Raju's work helped me cultivate rapport with my fans. One day, he evinced interest in becoming a film journalist. Through my contacts in the media, I got him placed in 'Jyothi Chitra'," Krishna recalls.
Krishna adds that Raju's film journalism career took off to a flying start after that. He went on to make name for himself and eventually established the popular film magazine, 'Super Hit'. This one has been around for decades. When Krishna was once in the US for a film shoot, he was stunned to discover that only two Telugu publications were being sold at a store where Indian publications were available: 'Eenadu' and 'Super Hit'. The film magazine has been that big a success, Krishna says.
