'Bholaa Shankar' is slated to hit the cinemas this Friday (August 11). Two days ahead of its release, a controversy has come to the fore.
Satish, a distributor from Vizag, owns Gayatri Films. He allegedly bought Agent's theatrical release rights by splurging a whopping Rs 30 Cr (towards release rights for Andhra, Ceded, Nizam and Karnataka territories).
However, Agent's producer Anil Sunkara allegedly sold theatrical rights to other distributors later. Satish's claim is that he got rights worth just Rs 1.5 Cr (for Vizag) even though he had paid Rs 30 Cr. The merits of this case are yet to be established legally.
Satish has urged a local court to stall the release of 'Bholaa Shankar', whose producer is the same as the producer of Akhil's 'Agent', until the recovery of all dues.
The distributor and his advocate today issued a video statement in which they rejected forgery allegations.
