'Gandeevadhari Arjuna' was released in theatres this Friday. If the opening-day collections are anything to go by, the film is a second flop in a row for both Varun Tej and director Praveen Sattaru.
Even though actor Kartikeya Gummakonda is not in the same league as Varun Tej, his film 'Bedurulanka 2012' reportedly amassed almost the same collections as did 'GA'. But since 'GA' is said to have been made on a budget of about Rs 40 to 50 Cr, the stakes are incredibly high.
It will be difficult for director Sattaru to resurrect his career after two costly blunders: 'The Ghost' last year and 'GA' this year. To his credit, 'GA' is slicker and its climax, at least, is not as ridiculous as the climax of Nagarjuna's movie. Sattaru will likely go back to making content films now. A low-budget crime comedy or a rom-com might help him make a strong comeback. He won't be trusted to give another 'PSV Garuda Vega' for sure.
