Gauri Khan, who has been an interior designer of repute and a part-time Bollywood film producer herself ('Dunki' is her latest offering, scheduled to hit the cinemas on December 21), is in the news over a legal notice. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday sent her a specific legal notice. As per Quint, the notice was slapped on her in connection with a real estate firm that has allegedly embezzled Rs 30 Cr.
The wife of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is one of the brand ambassadors of the company, which is based in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow. Tulsiani Group is its name. The company has been accused of "duping investors and banks". The ED will investigate if Gauri Khan has any financial stakes in the company. Beyond that, she won't be held responsible.
Brand ambassadors receiving ED notices is nothing new. In November, the ED issued summons to Prakash Raj in connection with an alleged money laundering case. The case is linked to a Ponzi scheme. "The actor has been summoned by the ED in an alleged Rs 100-Cr Ponzi scheme linked to Pranav Jewellers, a chain accused of running the scam," an advocate tweeted at that time.
