Veteran artist, producer and director M Prabhakar Reddy is often mentioned in the context of Chitrapuri Colony in Hyderabad. The 10-acre land on which the colony has been built was donated by Prabhakar Reddy. Back in the mid-1990s, its value was less than Rs 100 Cr. In a LinkedIn post, his grandson Sreekar Sannapareddy once wrote that its value today runs into hundreds of crores.
Recently, the Colony's housing project was inaugurated. Megastar Chiranjeevi himself was present for the same. In her latest interview, Prabhakar Reddy's daughter Sailaja Reddy said that her family members didn't get even an invite although the colony came up only because of the donation made by their patriarch. She added that at least her mother should have received an invite.
Reddy's generous donation is truly legendary and will be remembered for ages. Had his family owned the land, they would have been richer by Rs 600 Cr (as per an estimate).
