'Adipurush' was released in theatres today (June 16). T-Series' Bhushan Kumar and People Media Factory are extremely happy that the epic mythological film, released in 2D and 3D, is running to packed houses in Telugu and Hindi. "This resounding reception is a testimony to the splendid content of our film," they said in a statement. The latest BO release has been shown on more than 7000 screens in India.
Directed by Om Raut, the film is expected to post an astounding gross figure on Day One, with a lion's share coming from the Telugu box office.
The Hindi version is billed to rake in a nett. figure of more than Rs 37 Cr in India. The overall gross figure could cross Rs 110-120 Cr.
The film, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan, has defied all trade expectations. The genre's timeless appeal has been proved beyond doubt. The epic Ramayana has been reimagined as a superhero tale with devotion and melodrama taking a backseat.
