Megastar Chiranjeevi's 157th movie is going to be with 'Bimbisara' director Mallidi Vassishta. UV Creations is producing the pan-Indian movie. A fantasy film, the untitled biggie is speculated to have a reference to 'Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari'. In fact, in a recent interview with a daily, Vassishta actually referred to the Chiru-K Raghavendra Rao movie.
On Tuesday, something unexpected happened. Vyjayanthi Movies, which produced 'Jagadeka..', warned of legal action against whoever tries to produce any derivative works, including remakes, sequels, prequels, web series, etc. based on the Raghavendra Rao directorial.
In other words, if Megastar's 157th film has any direct or oblique allusions to the characters/story of 'Jagadeka..', its creators will be liable for legal action.
The speculation is that the legal action threat is an indirect way of warning UV Creations against making MEGA157 with a 'Jagadeka..' reference. The Intellectual Property rights, moral rights, character rights, and story rights in/to/over the film and its underlying works fully lie with Vyjayanthi Movies.
