Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah are doing the multi-lingual release 'Jigarthanda Double X' currently. The film will be released in theaters for Diwali. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, its Teaser was released today digitally by Superstar Mahesh Babu.
We see Raghava Lawrence cast in the role of a gangster from the 1970s. SJ Suryah plays a filmmaker. Their coming together spawns a film within a film.
The thematic prequel to the 2014 Tamil movie 'Jigarthanda' seems to be more about subverting some tropes associated with the Western cowboy films. Director Karthik Subbaraj has drawn liberally from the Madurai school of Tamil cinema in portraying the local gangster.
The 'Petta' and 'Mercury' director described the coming together of Lawrence and Suryah as electrifying. The score by Santhosh Narayanan in the teaser if stylistic. With stunts by Dhilip Subbarayan, the film has the cinematography by Tirru.
