Amazon Prime Video was the Numero Uno OTT platform when it came to streaming big-star Telugu movies till a few years ago. In 2023, this changed. Netflix took over silently. It aggressively bought movies like Chiranjeevi's 'Bholaa Shankar', Pawan Kalyan's 'BRO', Nani's 'Dasara', Vijay Deverakonda's 'Kushi', Naveen Polishetty-Anushka Shetty's 'Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty' and 'MAD'.
In 2024, Netflix is going to continue with its aggressive show. The streaming giant now owns the rights to some of the biggest pan-Indian movies made by Tollywood. Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa 2' and Jr NTR's 'Devara' are the prime examples. Prabhas 'Salaar' will stream soon.
Vijay Deverakonda's movie with Gowtam Tinnanuri, Siddhu Jonnalagadda's much-hyped 'Tillu Square', Nandamuri Balakrishna's movie directed by Bobby Kolli, Vishwak Sen's 'Gangs Of Godavari' are among the popular titles to be streamed by Netflix.
GA2 Pictures, UV Creations, and a few other banners have also sold their movies' digital rights to Netflix.
Netflix has clearly taken a lead over Prime.
