Vijay Sethupathi's 'Maharaja', which was directed by Nithilan Saminathan, is all set to grace your OTT screens sooner than you think. Netflix will stream the action thriller from July 12 in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.
With music by B Ajaneesh Loknath, the film features Anurag Kashyap in the role of a psychopathic burglar who orchestrates the molestation of his own daughter, now raised by Vijay Sethupathi's character. This twist is revealed in a shocking, heart-rending climax.
When the film was released, the reactions were overwhelming. Most critics found the film positively novel, while others found it disturbing. While somewhat slow-paced and randomly funny, 'Maharaja' is not boring. If you can put up with the first half, the second half will constantly engage you.
On the back of the success of 'Maharaja', Vijay's next film (read 'Vidudhalai Part 2') is expected to do good theatrical business in Telugu.
