The early days of OTT platforms saw a belief that big-screen celebrities joining streaming shows would be a surefire hit. Platforms like ZEE5 capitalized on this by featuring established names. However, this strategy wasn't always successful. A case in point is Harish Shankar's 2023 Telugu web series 'ATM,' which despite enthusiastic promotions, failed to generate significant buzz.
And now, ZEE5 is coming out with 'Paruvu', a Telugu-language thriller series on honour killing. Starring Nivetha Pethuraj, Naresh Agastya, Naga Babu, and Pranita Patnaik, the series will start premiering on the platform on June 14.
The pre-release buzz around the series is extremely low. Despite Chiranjeevi's daughter Sushmitha Konidela producing it, the show seems to be going under the radar.
The OTT viewers are tired of thrillers with crime angles. English-language and Hindi-language shows have better content in the genre. ZEE5 is making a mistake by not getting the memo. No wonder that 'Paruvu' hasn't been talked about anywhere.
