Michael Jackson happened to endorse Pepsi Co, a soft drink he actually hated drinking. The commercial was shot only after the company agreed to two of the tough conditions he had put forth.
As per an IMDb report, Jackson insisted he wouldn’t be caught on screen clutching a Pepsi can and that his face would grace the frame for no more than three seconds. At that time, everyone was amazed that Jackson had the clout and audacity to ask the MNC to agree to his conditions.
Incidentally, the King of Pop met with an accident while shooting for the famous commercial. It was a fire accident owing to which he suffered burns. "When Michael Jackson’s hair caught fire during the third take of the Pepsi commercial, he was dancing - and had no idea his hairdo was ablaze," Yahoo reported. It was after this accident that he swallowed a painkiller for the first time in his life.
