Bollywood production-distribution company Dharma Productions's revenue in 2022-23 was Rs 1,044.16 crore, while the profit was about Rs 110.69 crore. Yet, reports indicate that Karan Johar's company hasn't been doing as well as it was supposed to.
There are murmurs that Saregama is planning to acquire a majority stake in Dharma Productions. Saregama's revenue was Rs 790.3 crore and net profit was Rs 185.1 crore in 2022-23. The acquisition is said to be valued at more than Rs 600 crore.
Dharma Productions hasn't had a great time despite diversifying its risks by producing and distributing Hindi films. 'Kill', 'Bad News', 'Yodha' and 'Mr and Mrs Mahi' are some of its recent releases in theatres. The company is betting big on 'Jigra', which hits the cinemas on October 11.
Dharma Productions also owns a digital content arm named Dharmatic Entertainment, which has produced content streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and a few other OTT platforms.
