'Nenu Student Sir!' is a new-age thriller: Bellamkonda Ganesh

Actor Bellamkonda Ganesh debuted in films with last year's theatrical release 'Swathi Muthyam'. This week, his second movie is up for release. 'Nenu Student Sir!' is all set to hit the cinemas on June 2. Rakhi Uppalapati has wielded the megaphone for the thriller. The thriller features Avantika Dassani as the heroine. In this interview, Ganesh talks about the film's strengths. He also counts Mahati Swara Sagar's two songs and background score as a key highlight. The film is laced with twists, something both the film's producer ('Naandhi' Satish Varma) and the hero are excited about.

'Nenu Student Sir!' is relatable because the situations it plays out are realistic. Till the climax, you won't be able to guess who the villain is. Krishna Chaitanya's story and Rakhi's screenplay have been blended really well. Right from the start, my character had multiple shades. In 'Swathi Muthyam', my character was one-dimensional. In the latest film, I am happy, tense, anxious and more. When he gets embroiled in a mess, he revolts.

Rakhi has known my elder brother (Bellamkonda Srinivas) for a few years now. We were confident that he would deliver goods. And he has done a great job. Avantika was chosen when we got to know from her mother, Bhagyashree, that she was interested to play a lead role in Telugu.

'Nenu Student Sir!' is coming from the producer of 'Naandhi'. Satish Varma used to be on set and took care of us. The film was shot in less than 50 working days. The production values are so fine that you won't find any fault/deficiency in terms of execution. Samuthirakani garu's character is meaty.

My character in the film has got a thrilling arc. Every time he tries to extricate himself from something, a new problem comes his way. That's why the film raises curiosity till the climax. I would call it a new-age thriller.

I want to try multiple genres and prove my acting mettle. I always like to try something new every day on set. Both my first film and this one were thoroughly enjoyable that way.

When 'Swathi Muthyam' was released in theatres, it was deemed a bad release date because it clashed with 'GodFather' and 'The Ghost'. The producer felt that ours was the only family film and hoped that it would work. But the calculation didn't work our way! On the other hand, 'Nenu Student Sir!' is coming into theatres at the right time.

As far as I am concerned, I have not disappointed the audience thus far. 'Swathi Muthyam' was a humble film with no grand expectations. I wanted the audience to believe that my choices are sensible. Post the OTT release, everyone loved it. Even the female audience didn't find it cringe. They enjoyed the mature handling of the story.

We in our family don't discuss cinema. We keep film talk aside at home!

I am doing a crime comedy next. It will be a fun-filled story with a unique concept. A newcomer is wielding the megaphone.
