A Telugu short film ‘Panchabhutha’ directed by Mohan Kumar Valasala hit the international screen at 62nd International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany. This is the only Indian film that got selected in the category called ‘Berlinale Shorts’. Mohan Kumar Valasala who hails from Khammam district is presently being trained in direction at Satyajit Ray’s Film Institute in Kolkata.
Director Mohan Kumar said, “Panchabhutha is about the tones of solid waste found like huge mountains at a place in Kolkata for the past few decades. This attempt is to show the public which they are not aware of a particular thing tha’s happening in the society. There are neither dialogues nor the background score in this film. We just used the natural sound that sounded during the shooting. Altogether 27 films are competing in the Berlinale Shorts of which ‘Panchabhutha’ is the only Indian film that got selected. This apart, ‘Panchabhutha’ also got selected in Finland’sTampere Film Festival.
