Sankranti is the biggest festive season for Tollywood and Kollywood movies. And Yes, a Sankranti movie is a huge tradition for many heroes. Hence the producers of major movies plan well in advance and book theaters accordingly to release their films around the festival date. However, the release dates are subject to change even at the last minute.
Movies releasing for Sankranti 2014:
Janunary 10th: 1 (Nenokkadine) – starring Mahesh Babu and Kriti Sanon is being directed by Sukumar and produced under 14 Reels Entertainment banner with music by Devisri Prasad and cinematography by R Rathnavelu. Shooting is progressing in Hyderabad. Interestingly, ‘1’ will be Mahesh third consecutive film release for Sankranti with ‘Businessman’ in 2012 and ‘Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ in 2013 already to his credit.
January 11th: Heart Attack – starring Nithin and Adah Sharma is being directed and produced by Puri Jagannadh under Puri Jagannadh Touring Talkies banner. It has music by Anoop Rubens and cinematography by Amol Rathod. The film is presently being shot in Spain. Puri Jagannadh is going to test his luck once again for this Sankranti as he tasted success with ‘Desamuduru’ in 2007 and ‘Businessman’ in 2012.
January 13th: Race Gurram – starring Allu Arjun, Shruti Haasan, Shaam and Saloni is taking shape under the direction of Surender Reddy. Nallamalapu Bujji and Dr Venkateswara Rao are jointly producing it on Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Productions banner with music by Thaman and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa. Shooting is currently taking place in Hyderabad. Allu Arjun also wants to recreate the magic for this Sankranti with ‘Race Gurram’ which he did it in 2007 with ‘Desamuduru’.
January 13th: Biryani (dubbed film) – starring Karthi and Hansika Motwani is the bilingual film being directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by K E Gnanavel Raja under Studio Green banner. It has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Sakthi Saravanan. Pongal is a sentiment for hero Karthi too. The actor makes sure that atleast one of his films release during this festive season irrespective of hit or flop.
