Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is making a biopic ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ on former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, the founder of Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He also announced that the proposed film was about Lakshmi Parvathi’s influence on NTR and his last days, rather than his career as a legendary actor and politician. He also said that the film will expose all the real truths.
On Monday i.e. on October 16, maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma was interviewed on a Telugu news channel about ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ and he has given amazing answers to their questions which are in many people’s mind.
When asked about from where he gets such creative ideas, Varma replied, “I am huge fan of NTR since my school days. When NTR was giving his first speech I was in the crowd and I felt an extraordinary impact in terms of his fanciful speech. The reason is he is such an honest man. I believe honest people never request anyone for power. First time I got attracted to him when he was demanded the power rather than requesting. I don’t have much idea about his revolutionary moments or key event happened in his live. Recently, when I was discussing about the biopic, then I got the idea that no one can be a bigger man in Andhra Pradesh than NTR to make a biopic on.”
Varma don’t want to gather the story from any of NTR family members or people who has strong connection with NTR. He said, “I didn’t meet any of the key people who had strong connection with NTR because they will tell in their perspective which we know already through the books they released or with their past interviews and with that we can’t get all the real truths. My main intention is to go into all perspectives and finally to draw the truth.” He confidently said that the script which is with him is truth.
About the reason behind to change his idea to ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ from NTR biopic, he said, “After gathering all the information from different sources, what I felt is the most dynamic part of his life is after Lakshmi Parvathi entered his life. I found no conflict in his earlier life, i.e. how he became star hero or how he entered politics.”
Ram Gopal Varma don’t want to reveal about the characters in the film as of now. He honestly thinks that more people should make films on NTR. Everyone will make in their perspective.
When asked about whether the film touches YSRCP episode, the filmmaker replied, “The film showcases each and every incident that happened in NTR’s life after the married Lakshmi Parvthi till he died.” About the producer of the film Rakesh Reddy, RGV explained, “When I met him I really didn’t even know he was a politician. He is an honest person and he is also a fan of NTR.
About casting, RGV revealed, “I feel that it won’t work out if an established actor plays such a legendry person’s role. So I decided to rope in a new actor to play and he is already under training. I want to create NTR exactly like NTR. I decided to rope in all new artists for Lakshmi Parvathi’s role and for all important characters in the film.”
The shooting of the film is likely to commence in March. RGV says, “The actor who plays NTR is under training and it will take at least 3 months to capture the right prosthetics. The moment that is ready, I will start shooting. Roughly I am thinking March. There is no chance of going back. I am bent upon making this.”
When asked about his opinion on NTR, he said, “I don’t believe in god, I believe in NTR. Actually, I feel NTR is bigger than god. If I have to place my hands together at heart level means that would be NTR."
