The evening at Hyatt Regency was pretty much spangled with celebrations with the entire team of ‘Thaanah Serndha Koottam’ having connected with media and press. With the songs from this album getting on top of charts overnight, the team had its interaction with media channels. 2D Entertainment Rajashekar Pandian played a perfect host with his welcome speech.
Speaking on the occasion, actor Suriya said, “Great things are happening over the industry. I congratulate Rajinikanth sir, Kamal Haasan sir and Vishal for embarking on their political journey. While getting on with Thaanah Serndha Koottam, every director I have met and worked has shaped my career. In this aspect, producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja has been an integral part in getting me the best to work with me. Such was the way how I happened to meet Vignesh Shivn. I would often discuss on every project with director Hari sir as he takes special interest in me. When I told him about Vignesh Shivn, he instantly told me to work with him. The scenario was same with everyone in my family irrespective of age groups. On meeting Vignesh Shivan, he told me about a script he has kept for Sivakarthikeyan and Vijay Sethupathi. So they suggested me a script based on real life incident that happened in 1987. This was the inspiration behind Hindi film Special 26. I sat down for discussion with the same mindset of Special 26. But I was completely surprise to hear a different narration. Vignesh had just picked up the real life incident and crafted his own version of screenplay.
The actor continued to say, “It was like a reverse gear back to my olden days. Most of my recent films were like saving the neighbouring state and country. I would always say my favourite movies were Sathya and Varumaiyin Niram Sigappu. Vignesh Shivn has added that touch to this film. Usually, in most of my movies, I would be seen tensed and infuriated while emoting. But in Thaanah Serndha Koottam, my role is completely refrained from such attitudes. Vignesh Shivn would often correct it saying that ‘Sir, the characterization doesn’t need to get angry. Everything including the dialogue deliveries and body language were completely new to me. Every day was a new learning experience to me with this film. It’s been 7 years my film got released for a festival day. The film will not have that No Smoking and No Drinking card before the title credits. In fact, a censor board officer personally called us and appreciated that it’s been a long time we saw such a film without these contents.”
Keerthy Suresh mentioned saying that she felt so much great to work with her favourite actor Suriya, who she has been admiring right from the school days. Adding more she said, “Vignesh Shivn has a unique way of storytelling and he has given good prominence to my characterization too.”
Producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green Films had an emotional rendition of speech. He said, “Over the past 13 months during the entire process of shooting, I was so much perturbed by various problems. But Vignesh Shivn has been so much cool enough to handle situation without any tension. This is a rare quality that we find in any filmmaker. Suriya Anna has been a special person, who has cared for every moment in my career.”
Vignesh Shivn thanked each and every from producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja, Suriya, Ramya Krishnan and almost everyone in the team for working with him. Getting on to speak about Anirudh, he said, “Without Anirudh I would have not been standing here. I am here because of him. I owe him a lot. Even now, he is busy working on the re-recording of our film and so couldn’t make it for the occasion.”
Couple of songs – Naana Thaana and Peela Peela along with the film’s teaser were screened for the special invitees. Others in the cast and crew present for the occasion were Art director Kiran, Thambi Ramaiah, Ramya Krishnan and Suresh Menon.
