Over the last few years, we have seen many biopics based on the life stories of historians, sports persons or cine stars. Be it a ‘Dangal’ or ‘Mahanati’, most of these attempts at recreating a person’s life story have proved to be successful. In India, we have so many brilliant examples of people who left a mark of their of own in their respective field and legendary singer and composer Ghantasala - The one voice that rang through decades of Telugu cinema, is one among them.
Ghantasala’s life story is being translated onto the silver screen in a biopic with the title ‘Ghantasala The Great’ by Smt Lakshmi Neeraja under Anyuktharam Productions banner. Singer Krishna Chaitanya and his wife Mrudula are reprising legendary music composer (Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao) and his wife in this biopic. Subbaraya is playing Ghantasala garu’s guru Patrayani Seetarama Sastry. Writer CH Rama Rao, who did enormous research on Ghantasala life, is directing this film. Lakshmi Neeraja is producing this project and Saluri Vasu Rao has provided musical scores. Baahubali cameraman Senthil Kumar’s protege Venu Vadanala is handling the camera.
Today, i.e. on October 6, the first look of the biopic has been launched by Darsakendrulu K Raghavendra Rao garu. Makers are planning to unveil the teaser in the presence of bigwigs of the Telugu film industry by the end of October. Re-recording works have been completed and the film will be released in December.
