Marking the first death anniversary of the legendary SP Balasubrahmanyam, Magic FM has held a marathon 20-day singing competition for children. The little singers rendered SPB's unforgettable songs starting from June 4. Magic 106.4 FM and the jury were intent on recreating the SPB magic for music lovers with reverence for the late singer.
In a statement, the FM channel said that the entire selection process of participants was an online affair. Titled Baala Gaana Gandharvulu, the contest had the support of SP Charan, the son of SPB. Senior composer Koti, RP Patnaik (who as the judge selected five winners), MM Srilekha, KM Radhakrishnan and others, too, came on board to make the contest a great success.
"We are happy that children as young as 5 and as old as 15 made the contest memorable," the organizers said. Priyanka Prabhakaran, Sanjana, Venkata Srikeerthi, Dhruva Prajwal, Thanvi were shortlisted. In the end, Priyanka Prabhakaran and Sanjana emerged as winners.
Marking the World Music Day, RJ Ravali, RJ Kalyan, RJ Naughty Nani and RJ Prateeka presented the trophies to the Top 5. The winners were awarded Rs 5,000 worth gift vouchers.
